Ruth is Councillor for Royston Heath on North Hertfordshire District Council. She is the Deputy Leader of the Council and Executive Member for Planning & Transport. She is Leader of the Liberal Democrat group on the Council.

Ruth has lived in Royston for over 30 years and her children attended local schools. She was parent governor of Tannery Drift First School and is active in many local clubs and community activities including the Royston & District Twinning Association. She was co-pastor of Trinity Life Church, Royston for 15 years and is still an active member. All of these roles have given her insight into the local community she wishes to serve. She is passionate about fairness in society as well as public services and believes that everyone deserves to have an equal chance in life, starting in school with every child deserving to have a good school place, whatever their background or family income.

Bryony May moved to Royston with her partner David over 30 years ago. Their three children attended local schools and clubs, and she served as a parent governor at Tannery Drift First School for seven years.

Bryony is a committee member of the Friends of Therfield Heath and Greens.
